PerfectDisk 10 Technical Tips and Tricks

For advanced users that wish to customize their PerfectDisk 10 experience.

RunPD.exe - Some customers only want to run PerfectDisk 10 manually and want the ability to NOT have the PDAgent and PDEngine services always running in the background (services required for automated defragmentation and Update notification). You can use this script to start the PDAgent/PDEngine services, run PerfectDisk 10 and when the PerfectDisk 10 GUI is closed, stop the PDAgent/PDEngine services.

PD10_default_defragger.zip - Registry key to configure Windows so that PerfectDisk 10 is registered as the default defragmenter. When you right mouse click on a drive and select Properties and then click the Tool tab, when you click the Defragment button, PerfectDisk 10 will be run instead of the built-in defragmenter.

RunPDSHutdown.zip - PerfectDisk 10 can be configured to automatically shutdown Windows XP/Vista/2000 Professional after a scheduled defrag pass has completed. This script provides a way for those customers that wish to manually defrag a drive and then shutdown the computer. The .bat file can be placed on the desktop where you simply double click on the file, PerfectDisk 10's command interface is used to defragment the drive and the computer is shutdown automatically.

ContinualDefrag.zip - PerfectDisk 10 can be configured to run continuously on a drive. This script performs continuous Smart Placement defrag passes on the C: drive. You can simply double click on the .bat file to run or use Task Scheduler to run.
